Leadenham Polo Club sees the funny side of life...
A certain item of clothing found after the last Leadenham Polo Club Ball and attached, possibly, by an unnamed party-goer to a helium balloon, became tangled around an electricity pylon and was responsible for the failure of the traffic lights in Leadenham.
Leadenham village officially ground to a halt as the traffic lights stopped working. A policeman was drafted in to direct traffic as the electricity board tried to chase the fault to it's cause. It was soon discovered that a wayward item of clothing, possibly left over from Leadenham Polo Club's start of season ball, had been lofted skyward with the help of a helium balloon. A 'personal' item had inconspicuously caught in the electricity pylon, and then the weather had caused it to work it's way into a position where it caused the whole system to shortcircuit.
Polo Club owner James commented 'I know our Polo Season Balls can be legendary, but this certainly would take them to new heights. No pun intended, of course.'
